Having recently purchased a V8 there a few things I would appreciate some advice on.1)The car sits out of level across the back end by about 20mm ,higher on the near side.Im told that this is a trait of a car used by a driver only or is this cr#p.2)Should the passenger door unlock on the central locking.Sorry forgot to mention it's a 2000 SE so I wouold guess it should. The car does drive quite nicely apart from the gearbox being a bit notchy but I'm told that they are like that.

Thanks in advance

Unless there is something wrong with the springs, the slight bit of 'slouching' is normal on Esprits. Atleast it says so on the Esprit fact file.
Notchy gearbox is the trait of the Esprit.

Yes - Central locking should work on both doors.

Have your springs checked and your dampers/shocks as well. I have a '98 with no visible difference in hieght, so a 2000 shouldn't have that problem. My money is on the dampers.

I don't know if anyone has done this yet, but the next time my dampers need replacing, I'm probably going to move to the 2004 adjustables setup...

Steve

Ditto the other replies - mine is level, central locking should unlock both doors etc.

Where abouts are you? Warwickshire?? I'm in Leamington Spa. If you want, pop over some time and try my gear change for a comparison. Email me via my profile

cheers

Excellent - I love it when somebody else does it first . Just kidding, mate. Let us all know how they do...

Cars gone back to sort out the problems (hopefully).I will keep you posted on what goes on.Mind you it's not my first Lotus from this dealer and they normally deal with things quite promptly.I will drop you a line Rob when I get the car back, it would be interesting to have another car and your opinion to compare.Oh and by the way I'm from Studley so not far away.(about three gallons i reckon)

Cheers

I've a 2000 V8. The car should sit level... I ride mostly alone and after 29K+ miles, it still sits level. The notchy gearbox could be a more serious problem. Mine has a sticky clutch which wiped out the original gearbox within 14K miles. I would suggest you change the lube, if you see lots of shiney synchro dust, suspect your clutch as a problem. If th fluid is mostly clean, you may just have normal Lotus shifting or the clutch could be needing adjustment and/or bleeding.
