In our Disco, we have never managed to set the cruise control.

I assume you press the centre consol button that looks like a motorway sign, then click the 'set' button towards you on the steering wheel. However nothing happens frown Any ideas much appreciated please??

I would first check that the vacum pipe has not perished.

Pulled off the vacuum hose, but no vacuum obvious at all frown

Looks like someone has replaced all of the hose at some point recently, as it's in very good condition. Where does the split in the line go to? (that goes through the firewall).

I haven't checked the vacuum pump yet. Do these units commonly fail?

Isn't the button that looks like a motorway sign related to air suspension rather than cruise?

e.g. as in this RR P38 example:

Fraser, let me know if you need any spares,I broke a V8 300 disco also have several tdi lumps in various states!,not much good to me as have got a Disco 2 now, nicer drive just lots more to go wrong.
I have had 4 300 shape Discos and the cruise did't work on any of them.

Normally goes to the brake pedal so when you brake the CC turns off.

Thank you. Next step, check that for leaks, then see if I can find out if the vacuum pump is actually making a vacuum!

Cheers mate. It has, although the side rubbers on them don't seem to reach the end caps. The rubbers might have shrunk over the years? Before you bin them, I'll check in the weekend if ours can be sorted. If not, it would be good to see if yours could be fitted to them.

You don't by chance have the right rear side window scraper, and the left rear window felt channel. I know it's odd, but most wreckers just bin these rather than sell them.

I'll take you up on that if you really don't mind. We are catching up with old friends this weekend, but I'll give you a bell early next week.

Are you coming to the Christmas do?
