I've heared people talk of a good jet wash of the hood to get the invisible, ingrained dirt out before treating. Will probably give this a go myself, probably do the lid separately away from the car. scratchchin

be careful with the jetwash you could end up with more water in the car than out, the best product for your roof is Renovo hood reviver which will bring your hood back to its original colour, there is also Renovo ultraproofer and a polish for your rear screen if its gone cloudy. i've used these products before and for a couple of hours work your hood will be like new

Thanks for that. friend of mine jet-washed his beemer top and was left with severe markings as the thing was either too close or too powerful.
i will look up these products today. Need to get her in the garage asap as the cover i have isn't exactly waterproof and roof is in a constant state of "damp".
N.B. Hope you boys in cumbria have got your cars "above sea level"yikes

Honestly no joke tried this on the rusty nail run all you need is cherry b Boot polish applied with a sponge, brings it back to brand new and lloking great. Johnny wedgie, carob, and jock sprocket will back me up on this one isnt that right lads! Tried renovo cost £30 odd quid loads of prep and work. Cherry B 89p dead easy and a better finish.

That could be a problem if they dont do boot polish in blue. Must be able to get it from somewhere mind you i've only tried it with black, so be carefull.
