Diablo Questions ........

Is the top speed of a Diablo effected much by the rear wing ?
Also the 95 - 98 SV model has a top speed of 186 is that down to the wing or gearing - I understand the 99 onwards car has more power and capable of 208 mph ?
Excuse my ignorance I'm not that clued up on the 'Raging Bulls'.
Has anyone on here got an SV VT ect - Would be interested in your comments on reliability and ownership.
Thanks

... some (but not all) Diablos after the first of the SV cars were fitted with a short stack gearbox that means the acceleration in gear is brisker but the cars maximum speed is 300kmh (186mph)
... prior to that, and since, all Diablos have a listed top speed in excess of 202mph.
... wings as fitted to the Countach in many forms have a detrimental effect on top speed but, importantly, are THE WING !!

I've no idea why I'm including this picture here, honestly!

Where are you planning on maxing out your new diablo?
A614 !!!

I prefer the cars without the wing - Can't really afford to change at the the minute just looking at Ferrari 512 alternatives.
I don't know if my heart would let me swap out of an F car - I have driven Diablos in the past and they are the raw experience I like.
Not really fussed about Gallardos plus they will depreciate.

I'm glad you did add the picture - That looks the b... prior to that, and since, all Diablos have a listed top speed in excess of 202mph.

the earliest sv's were 96 and 97 models these were the 510bhp cars with no abs no air bag and 17" front wheels i believe they all had the close ratio gearboxes fitted, the later sv was the 98/99 with 530bhp, abs, airbag and 18's all round some of these came with short ratio gearboxes, 99's had open headlamps and a 6ltr style curved dash. i have a 510 car and have to admit i have never found 186 max an issueAlso the 95 - 98 SV model has a top speed of 186 is that down to the wing or gearing - I understand the 99 onwards car has more power and capable of 208 mph ?

i can't think the lower style wing fitted to an sv would affect the performance too much. as for reliability i'm a low mileage man but other than routine servicing have only had to repair a starter motor in 8 years ownership.ianqv said:
