Though changing the fluid in the resevoir wont hurt in any way, you havent really changed any of the fluid doing the actual work. Only way to do that correctly is drain it out/though mate.

Yes that is very true Hex, but just as a matter of course it is well worth doing, you will be suprised how the clutch dust and moisture does get into the oil system and really contaminates the oil, a full system clean would be ideal but it is not an easy job to do.

I think if clutch dust does get into the resevoir there is a good chance the new oil in turn will migrate down through the system, I will be looking at changing mine once a month for next six months, very easy and cheap to do, so well worth doing.

If you have not already seen the info vid below, take a look.

Hi Sam.... Yer I like to do all my own servicing, as I know it has been done properly, simple things like changing brake pads, I will not just chuck new pads in, I will copper slip all bolts pins all will be torqued up properly.

When the pads need changing the brake pistons protrude out of the caliper, a garage will just push the pistons back into the caliper without cleaning and lubricating the piston which will cause problems in the long run like sticking and siezure of the pistons as you are dragging crap into the brake piston seals.

A garage servicing will not do all that!

Clutch Dust in the fluid??? The system is sealed! Im pretty sure that if the seals stop fluid getting out they sure as hell wont let clutch dust in! smile (must be special moon dust really)laugh

For such a switched on group we do seem to labour on clutch issues far to much, even the mighty Rich falls over on this subject!

I had the same feelings about the subject too until I see and read the article, he had the oil tested and the crap in the oil was clutch dust, I have kept my oil and I am going to have it laboratory tested at work, that crap is coming from somewhere, it can't just appear in the oil.
