So what would be your perfect car to do the drive to lemans road trip in lets say you had to take you and one other person and camping gear travelling from UK ??

AM in any guise seems just too common for me (maybe the exception is a DB4). I'll see so many of them on the road to Le Mans. For me, something rare, classic maybe, not necessarily overtly sporty, but definitely classy with lots of style. How about a Facel Vega HK500 in pristine nick?

I remember in 1998, in Parking Vert walking past 10+ Facel Vega s, all looking pristine.

Hi Skywalker,

I think it must have been at Le Classic Le Mans in 2008 that there was a show area for some classic French cars and there were a number, maybe 7-8, Facel Vegas there. I don't know why they appeal to me; maybe it's because to me they seem to be the "Art Deco" of cars! Anyway, I think it would be great to have one for the round trip to Le Mans.

If money was no object and I could choose any car to keep it would be one from my fantasy garage, but which one.....?

Hi Leaper - fully agree re the Facels, I smile thinking that they are styled somewhere between Miami, Havana and Thunderbirds' Tracey Island.

My father has one of these (but without the bling grille or wheels):



Its a Mulliner Continental R (essentially a long wheelbase Continental T). I took it to the Silverstone Classic this summer and it was great.

Might see if I can take it to the LM Classic next year as its a bit more in keeping with the event than my Porsche.

Sadly I would never think of taking it to the regular LM. Given the lack of respect shown to cars by an increasing proportion of the nobs who attend these days I dont think I would ever take a special or expensive car to the 24hrs.

A decent range- you cant drive really quickly any more, but you can make good time by not stopping

Not a prayer Skywalker. If you will put up a photo of a plastic replica (I presume so with an H reg) who am I to argue with you? Now me, I'm quite happy with this one - since it's mine and the only one in the world! On a second note am contemplating converting the Lynx D into an XKSS.
