Is this part bonded to the body tub or can it be removed



And how the hl do you get this out?

Have already followed your instruction - just cant pull dash forward (ecerything else disconnected) to get at retaining nuts

Had the same problem with mine about six months ago.Follow the advice given above removing all of the bolts inc the two in the bottom footwells.Stand astride the tunnel lift the dash about 20 deg and pull like hell,worked for me after a lot of cursing.You may find that if the windscreen has been replaced in the past it may have bonded to the dash,if this is the case you will damage the leatherette on the dash just like me !!!!

With the dash detatched being a few inches out, you can just get to the back of the heater controls to detach the wires.Then off to the trimmers you go.

I had to pull the "thin" end out and bend it slightly to get to the back of the heater controls and undo the bolts. It straightens again quite easily afterwards as it is just metal with a paper effect on which I replaced with teflon. My heater control is a different one to that in your picture though.

How did you do them back up again afterwards? I'm still stuck on this bit of the refit!

I found that once released I could get a bit of play into the wires and then put the nut on the far side and slid the control behind the nut - it is a U shape. I then put a small wing nut on the near one and could just get a finger in to spin it. The control is not held as tight as it was before but doesn't move or rattle so I'm happy.

Hi Guys,

I too had this problem, my dash looks the same as Normans. I read somewhere (after I had finished) that the best way to do it is to remove the heater cables in the engine bay (making sure you cant pull them all the way through) then you have plenty of play to pull the dash forward to get at the nuts. Also re-fitting will be much easier.
