Lower Back Pain driving Gallardo
Discussion
Anyone else had problems with back problems driving a Lambo or any other sports car? Ive never ever had problems with my back in the past, but after a long drive in the G yesterday I woke up this morning with terrible back ache. I think its lack of lumbar support. Are there any aftermarket lumbar pads you can buy or something similar?
Thanks

I've not had issues with mine and I've driven some long trips including a tour around Scotland in a week. When it comes to lower back pain, I'm well versed having had a compression fracture of L2+L3 in a donorcycle accident when I was 18 and stupid.
I'd first try adjusting your seating position as that's probably the most likely cause. Try pulling the steering wheel all the way out towards you and see if you can comfortably get more of an incline on the backrest. If you're adamant you need some lower down support have a look for a memory foam lumbar cushion - just because I don't get back problems doesn't mean you will be the same of course.
I'm not completely sure but I think the electric seat option gives you the possibility of adjusting the seat base tilt angle. If this is the case, that might help you a little too but that probably means changing cars if you don't have that already.

Are you a tall guy? I got terrible backpain from a 575 because of my long legs (6'10") and the angle between my thighs and back being pretty acute. It's not unreasonable to suggest that the seats in these cars are built for drivers with more compact dimensions than my own - in fact that's true of most cars - which precludes me from being able to drive most Italian exotics apart from 612s and recent Maseratis. I can't even get in a Lambo.

Hey!. I'm only 6ft 2 and a bit I cant drive a Gallardo for more than an hour or so before I start to feel really cramped. My head is on the ceiling and my legs are at a dodgy angle. The only way around it is to drive the convertable with the roof down. That solves the head problem but not the feet.Streetrod said:

I have Gallardo with electric seats and at 6'4" managed 3000 miles in 2 weeks around Europe with no problems at all. More comfotable than the 360 spider I did similar trip in last year.I guess it is just a matter of adjusting seat to get most comfotable position. I must say the SL seats do look the business but never seen them as aftermarket option.
Im not a massive chap, but I suppose I aint short. 6 ft 1". Im thinking its probably the seats then, Ive only got the basic seats with electric forwards and backwards control of the back rest. There is no adjustment of the height or seat angle. I borrowed a Gallardo a couple of years back (with the same seats) and drove to Scotland in it and I was fine after that trip, one of the reasons I bought a G was due to this trip, so I was a bit worried when after the trip this weekend I felt like I did.
Anyone got a spare set of electric seats they want to sell? :-)

i am finding the SL buckets to give me back ache and i have never had it before in a car. there is NO lumber support on the SL seats at all. ordering two cushions made by sparco i believe, but lambo may well have a monopoly on them
