How dare they use democracy to decide something after getting a petition with 100k signatures?!!

You wouldn't get such nonsense under Adam Sutler.

I go to switzerland to look at the mountains and "swis" buildings... I do NOT go to look at some religious building which does not belong in the culture.... I say good on them!

Has anything worthwhile ever come out of Switzerland - apart from cuckoo clocks and Toblerone (with a nod to "The Third Man").

I like Minarets, in the right setting.

(Downtown Cairo or Istanbul).

Wasn't it found out that they stole the Cuckoo clocks as their own idea.

Apparently.

Cuckoos aren't native to Switzerland

(Ps - I might have made that bit up).

After the time I have spent in Switzerland I can be pretty sure I have never seen a Cuckoo. However I have seen a lot of Americans. So based on my research it is more likely for an American to be Native to Switzerland than a Cuckoo.

I think I could join a Government think-tank with my logic.

Actually, Cuckoo clocks originated in Southern Germany...as I was told many, many times earlier this year on a visit to the Black Forest.

pity they can't ban mosques over here, thought the idea was to integrate ?

building mosques is hardly the way to do that

Opponents say a ban would amount to discrimination and that the ballot has stirred hatred.

Sure;y people who live there have a right to decide on such matters?

It says ...57% of voters
Does that mean 57% of the electorate, or the % of the vote?

Why would you want to ban mosques though?

By that, I guess what I mean is, sure, if someone wants to build a fk-ugly building in your area it shouldn't be allowed, but I wouldn't say it's right to specifically ban mosques simply for being mosques, and of course they shouldn't receive any preferential treatment in any applications for planning permission and so on.
