I walked into work today and some chinese lady ran upto me in a flurry. Hi can you help my camera doesnt work!!! I noticed the nikon strap hanging and said I can try and help so she pulled it out and I noticed the D90 stuck on the side which I replied with oooo I have this camera!!!! At first glances it looked like my normal camera but all of a sudden I noticed different bits appearing such as the lens didnt tuck back in. and the dials on the top had a different housing, both sides and when you took a portrait photo it turned it up right on the screen?? It was very strange!!! Anyone else seen this?

Er - how have we established yours is normal and someone else's a fake - rather than the other way round?"D90 stuck on the side" - you mean it has a badge that's been (badly) stuck on in some way?
How does your lens "tuck in" compared to this one?
"Dials in a different housing" does sem odd - have you compared with imges from Nikon website?
Taking a portrait in portrait view can be set to either "autocorrect" to vertical or "leave-as-it-is" mode when viewed on-screen in most Nikons IIRC.
Can you elaborate further?
I can't find anything about fake D90s on the internet apart from the usual Photoshopped pre-release ideas.

It may have been a Nikon strap on a different camera.DamianBlades said:

I can only think you mean the pentamirror overhang... more description needed.DamianBlades said:

The D90 only has a dial on one side, and it's not in a housing at all:

That's easy - see 'Rotate Tall' in the menu settings.Gassing Station | Photography & Video | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
