Well, according to the online Radio Times it is.

Tristram Hunt shows how motoring has gone from allowing us to explore the beautiful English countryside to the present day of speed cameras, congestion charges and environmental issues. Along the way, he looks at different cars through the ages that define a decade and a generation.

Sounds like it might be more a 'The joys we once knew' but one never knows (fingers crossed).

Good idea but five minutes in I'm already incredibly annoyed by the twee music.

We once had freedom and enjoyment on the roads. Hardly anymore.

I thought it was pretty light weight, his summing up at the end missed the point completely as to why the majority of people use a car, his conclusions on speed cameras and congestion charges were rather poor too. Shame, it could have been much better.

I missed the last half of it due to a phone call and will have to catch up on it on the playback thingy. Loved the old cars though.

Rather predictable descent into an anti car rant. Why do the bbc bother, actually would probably have had the same slant from the other broadcasters too. The presenter mentioned cars ''spouting green house gases''. Surely not as bad as the crud he was spouting at the end.
