I noticed the other day that the rear carpet, behind/under the drivers seat is extremely wet (sodden). All other areas are completely dry.

Knowing that TVR's are ... well TVR's, I simply put this down to the fact that I use the car daily, it's stood outside 24/7 and the ammount of rain we have had recently and a seal may not be doing it's job properly.

Have had chance to have a good look around this morning and all the seals appear to be fine, the drain holes under the door are clear. No visible water marks anywhere on the trim etc.

I placed a newspaper over the carpet, when I first noticed to try to establish where the leak is coming from and to soak up some water. 2 days later the top of the paper is dry and has been throughout, thus can't see it coming from anywhere but up through the floor !!!!

Is this possible ?
What's the likely fix ?
Any other alternative suggestions ?

Advice & sugeestions needed please !!

Thanks satman, already seen that thread, but the actual front footwells are fine, just the rear footwell and a little under the drivers seat.
Does this still sound like the same problem ?

Seems the dreaded wet stuff gets in every where on these cars!...Does your car sit on a slope?...it could be coming in from the front but running back? Window seals ok? can sometimes run down behind interior trim un-noticed to the floor...looks like you have checked door seals and drain holes.... best of luck, keep searching...I am... and im still getting water in 3 months after first discovering the first wet patch!

I've given up looking. Passenger side is wet on mine.
Maybe I'll take another soon. Frustrating

Can't really see it coming up through the floor (unless of course you've got a hole). I would guess its the door seal somewhere. Try looking around the door opening for wet patches. Also the rear part of the window when its closed. Make sure that connecting properly with the rubber.

Cheers guys ... will spend tomorrow morning looking around .... hungover most likely !!!
Failing that, I will get the lads at work to stick it through the water test facility .... they'll find out where it's coming from !!!

Spent most of the day trying to find somewhere half decent to get a new stereo, as the combination of a radio and a tape is doing my nut in. Halfords was the only place I could find open ..... although the same thing in there at £400, is only £260 on the net.
So if you know of anywhere decent in the midlands (Coventry area'ish) let me know !!
Just a decent stereo, not into the rest .... no point as it's only on when it's raining.

I'll let you know how I get on with the leak tomorrow !!!

Don't know anywhere in the midlands but I got a new head unit recently from caraudiodirect
Quite a good selection and it turned up within a couple of days.
If you have an old stereo you may also need this this and a little rewiring of the connection to match up to TVR's. It took about ten minutes once I figured it out.

I don't know if it helps, but we had a problem like this when I worked for a TVR dealer a couple of years back. It turned out that the water was coming through the floor pan. It wasn't cracked, but the glass matting had a thin/porous area on the driver's side. A few minutes with some mat and resin cured it for good.
