Locking the car without setting the alarm?

Can this be done? (Locking the car without setting the alarm?)The current weather and car cover are causing the alarm to go off and upset me and the neighbours.
Rens has told me how to turn down the sensitiviy but I am sure I read somewhere that you can lock the car without setting the alarm, but I can't find it. Help please.

I attempted to do this when I was on a ferry - could not find a solution.

In the end just ended up leaving it unlocked - few people know how to get in and even if they did they would not be able to start it.

Be interested to know if you find a solution

I think you can lock the car but disable the movement sensor. When pressing the lock button on the keypad, press and hold it down for 4 seconds and it will beep a few times indicating that the sensor is by-passed. Something like that anyway!

Yes, hold the lock button on the remote for about 4 seconds as mentioned previously. On the Meta alarm it supposedly locks the car but disables the microwave and motion sensors. It worked for me on a long, very rough ferry trip this year.

Or while your in the car, press the button next to immob slot, this disables all outer buttons, so you can then get out and shut door, doors and boot locked, imob on but not alarm. to get back in you need to then lock it, and unlock it. hth

Thanks for all your help. I have managed to find the solution by obtaining the user guide from Meta alarms. There is a way to lock the car but disable the movement sensor. This does not compromise the dorrs or boot as the alarm will still trigger if the door or boot is opened. PM if you want the instructions which I have in PDF format. I have tested this solution and after bouncing the car up and down can confirm it works!!

Thanks for the info Ian... works perfectly on my 2001 Chim (even in conjuction with the little switch to stop the windows from going up when the roof is off)... unfortunately doesn't work with a Tuscan 2 convertible... If you keep your finger on the button after two flashes, the third flash just unlocks it agan....Typical TVR, things never simple.

Glowworm. This did happen with me, the third flash, although what this did do was set the alarm but did not lock the doors or boot so the alarm went off when I opened them. I found that the trick is a push and hold for 3.5 seconds on the fob just before the third flash. Not an exact science but it has worked and the neighbours have started talking to me again.
