£40k ish 360's - Newbie hunting
Discussion
Hi all,
Considering a 360 (Red or Black really) max budget is £45k, which trawling through the classifieds should get me into a well looked after 99-01 car, with around 30k miles.
There are 3 red cars and a couple of black cars in the classifieds, but they all seem to be hanging around. There is also a silver spider that looks good from pics, but read that silver should be avoided for resale (but I haven't ruled it out as plan on keeping the car for a few years).

Does anyone know of, or been to see any of these cars?
Is it still a buyers market?
How much realistically do you think I could be able to haggle off a £44k dealer car? (cash sale)
(And I will definitely be getting an expert inspection)
And purely out of curiosity, has anyone been to view this car? 47k miles, but seems to be priced accordingly and I am likely to rack up a few miles (did 55k in my 996tt over 4 years)

Thanks a lot,

I'm afraid I haven't seen any of those particular cars, but the first thing I would ask you is do you want F1 or manual? The cars you are looking at all have the early F1 gearbox which generally isn't rated that highly. It was improved in 2003 and to my knowledge the 03 onwards cars are better.
If your looking at F1 I really recommend you drive it before you buy it because you might absolutely hate it. I looked at buying a M6 a couple of years ago, took one out for a test drive and my god the gearbox was just terrible. Now if I hadn't test drove one and bought it I wouldn't be best pleased so make sure you take one out.
The last car you mention was spoken about on here although I haven't a clue if it was good or bad, I'm sure somebody will be along soon though who will.
As for which car you should go for, that's completely up to you. personally i prefer the looks of the spider to the coupe so I would consider that, but yes silver will be harder to sell.
Hope that helps

Drove an F1 a few years ago and wasn't overly impressed. Will try both again, but 95% will go for a manual as I think it adds to the drive in ways that paddles can't on this kind of car. Paddles better on a GT IMO.
Thanks for replies
