A tailor made suit is a very nice thing indeed, I didn't know suits could be so comfortable! I got mine in HK so yes, it's worth travelling wink

I'd like to pimp Social Suicide here. My husbands buys all his suits from them and they're well worth the travel. Beautifully made off the peg suits, and they often offer great discounts and events. If you're just getting into bespoke wear, try the English Cut blog for some great advice.

Also, there are various levels between buying from a chainstore and having one tailormade to fit. Again, read English Cut for more details!

Why, if their suits fit your body shape what's the problem?

From the various other what suit threads on here they always seem to get a good review.. I'm confused.

Got me a suit for £25 from ASDA in an emergency. Wasn't bad.

[pantomime] Oh yes it was! [/pantomime]

Dress2Kill - fully made to measure, you get all the attention to detail and can choose your own linings / pocket styles / buttonholes for about £400. Well worth it imho.

Mine was £299 , wore it around 15-20 times over a period of 4-5 months. Then I noticed the material had worn through....sent off to M&S to be told that it was natural wear and tear confused

On the other hand, got a TM Lewin suit for £200ish, 4 months in, worn everyday, no wear signs whatsoever

Have a look in your local Yellow Pages. I'm sure there will be bespoke tailors listed. Go and talk to a professional.

Many years ago I had some hand made suits, even the buttons on the cuffs unbuttoned.

What's your timeframe? My tailor travels to the uk from hong kong every 3 months. He does fully made to measure suits from 275 and shirts from 35. Having said that I tend to spend 320 min on the suits as I prefer a better fabric (45 for the shirts). He's just been so will be back feb.

Is there a Slaters Menswear anywhere near you? Quality suits, staff all seem to know what they're doing, and they'll make any adjustments you need. I've had all my recent work suits from there and never had any issue.

I'll give m&s a miss then, its coming round to that time of year when a new suit or two will be needed. I've been getting mine from debenhams for the last couple of years, seem to last about 2 years of regular wear,

So what is so bad about them?
£ for £ they are very good value in terms of cloth & construction.
They aren't my cup of tea but after working for M&S and seeing the competition, they are very good VFM.

I recently had a suit made....beautiful quality and looks a million miles better than 'off the peg'.

sub £1000 also.

An amazing experience....highly recommended.

You know they don't measure pants like that.

Like shoes I do not like to wear the same suit every day. You should have a few and alternate them.

Good idea is to get two pairs of trousers with a suit. I currently rotate four jackets with eight trousers. Jackets only gets worn to work and back and spend the rest of the time on my chair (I know I should put it on a hanger), the trousers you wear all day long. If you have extra trousers you can get them dry cleaned in rotation.
