Alternatives to Royal Mail for Ebay shipping

Im new to Ebay, but i have raised some good money selling my collection of Hi-Fi that i would have otherwise taken to the local council tip.

Now i need to ship the items to the winners of the auction. Is there an alternative to the Royal Mail? Maybe (dare i say it) cheaper than the Royal mail?

I have sold a CD player, Amplifier and some vinatage speakers (so pretty big and heavy). Can anyone recommend an alternative so i can save some of the cash i raised?

I've used http://www.parcel2go.com/ for sending a few bits about. They're good if you're sending heavy stuff and they collect too.
