I was the same the first year in my own rented place....No one else was allowed to touch the tree or decs.

And tbh am a bit like that this year too, as it's the first year in my own house paperbag

I have always enjoyed the christmas decoration in my house. I guess it is because I am still just a big kid inside.

Last year was particularly good because I only had the mx5 to get the tree and wanted a big one, so had to drive about 10 miles with an 8 foot christmas tree sat in the passenger seat sticking out of the top. I did get lots of grins from people I passed though, and the couple that I overtook looked more than a little shocked! hehe

This year is a momentous one too as I am moving back in with my father and will be cutting down the tree myself. And it will probably be more like 20ft.

Nope, I absolutely love it too. The smell of a real tree is the very essence of Christmas for me.

NOt me... but then again Im going to visit my folks for Xmas and the OH is visiting hers and then I join her for New year, so there is really no point in having an Xmas tree when noone will enjoy it.

Snorkel Sucker - does that refer to your penchant for underwater sports or is a reference to an area of expertise in delivering certain sexual favours to sub mariners? I am guessing from the ongoing excitement about tinsel that it is probably the latter....?

I'll put some cards up but that's it. Not a big fan of Christmas.

We've got 14' ceilings in our lounge (Georgian house!), Mrs Maser always wants the biggest tree we can realistically fit.

Bloody step ladder only just reaches the top to get the fairy on there.

Bloody me that has to get it in the front door, through to the lounge, in the stand, and upright.

Then she puts the lights and decs on (the hard bit, apparently).

Looking forward to that, honestly.

Not really into the Christmas thing, not scrooge either like I just find it an arseache. What I do like is the fact I get a week to go somewhere snowy and enjoy some beers and boarding with the lads.

As for Xmas trees, I never bother, but they do smell amazing. Look forward to gathering them from the family after xmas to burn later in the year in the woodburner smile

im thinking a bit of christmas tree shopping is in order this weekend (god knows when the "actual" date to put them up is though - 2 weeks before crimbo??)

OT slightly and onto my user name - no penchants for water sports biggrin or those in the navy. Tinsel, however....hmmmmm...

B&Q are doing a free tree when you spend £30 in store until Sunday.

You need to print a voucher for it though http://info.diy.com/servlet/website/PersonalizedFo...

Being a huge Christmas fan I find it difficult to wait to get a tree until after 16th Dec, Mrs Mojo's birthday. The deal has always been to get her birthday out of the way then start Christmas !! The upside is an extended party season as apparently her birthday starts well in advance of the actual date !!

Can't wait to get my tree, a real one of course xmas

Plastic all the way when you have a dog that thinks it is fun to pull tinsel and decorations off of the tree...

I'd visit sooner rather than later, they were running out of lights earlier, its as if people where panic buying fairy lights.
