Hello there.
I appreciate this might be a bit like someone appearing in general gassing and doing a what car about the best caravan tow car..but

Can you give me any pointers on the best 'point and click' camera i can buy for my wife for Christmas..?

after 6.5 years our trusty Canon IXUS has given up the ghost. in many ways she wouldn;t mind another canon but we're not that fussed.

so what's the best option up to £100 (well maybe a bit over).

ideally good battery life and ideally a decent screen. a lot of photos of gardens and inside the house (we're doing up) and the usual 'ooh look it's my friends' type photos. i might borrow it for car things but only static really and probably not very often so not really that fussed about whether it is that good at dealing with a 130mph 250 gt swb..!

thanks in advance.

Best advice I can give is that megapixels aren't everything. They only really matter when it comes to printing. I've got a camera with 6 and I can get A3 prints at a good enough quality for going on the wall.
A camera might have 12 million pixels but the they will be of lower quality than a camera at the same price with 8.
When looking at a camera, have a look on Flickr camera finder, it lets you see images taken by people with a specific camera.
