lucky buggers

Blumin ITV have lowered the coverage to one 3 hour slot on a Sunday.

Still, from wrc.com, this rally doesn't seem as intriuging as it could have been (new Mitshubishi, Pug, Scooby driver...)

it takes the piss IMO F1 gets hours on tv over the weekend and its bloody boring , hurling a car down narrow winding roads, graveltracks takes more skill i reckon

but it doesn't have the "pull" of F1 yes, it's far more appealing to watch, but the cars aren't so fantastic to the untrained eye.

It's a shame really, but then again, maybe it's not. If too many people started to watch the sport you'd end up with the problems they are experiencing today and yesterday (over-crowding).

Then of course there is the comments made by Carlos & Sebastian (I think it was the later as well), in that "Fans" are putting snow on the road...

Silly really I just hope the show on ITV tommorrow is half decent. Already we are down to 50mins of footage (1 hour show with ad breaks), you'll have the obligatory 10mins of analysis and introductions for the numpty's who ITV are trying to attract into the sport then you will have the results from stages, 10 mins, interviews and "service area" reports. Leaves, ooh 10mins of rallying?

Disgraceful but then, I hope I'm proved wrong.

Rallying just isn't as telly friendly as F1 though is it? With F1 you see everything as it happens which of course you can't really do with the WRC. That's why the TV companies love virtual spectator so much. Its the only way they can show the cars "racing" each other.

And of course there's the other problem of no British drivers up at the top.

?? I must be the only person who thinks WRC is the best motorsport to watch on TV??? You never get to sit inside the cars that long in F1 I like to see what the drivers see. Any outside of car action is always mad drifts and ridiculous jumps.

Theres something extremely telly friendly about watching the drivers violent battles with the reverie carbon wheels and then theres the sound - complete contrast to the F1 yowl, but just as addictive with all the wastegate chattering etc etc...

I just hope ITV can do as good a job as C4, if not better. F1 is boring, WRC is so much better for spectators.

BCA I have to agree with you rallying works realy well on tv. I've spectated at rallys and as much as I like doing this it is difficult to get an overview of whats actualy going on. To my mind rallying on TV makes F1 look very dull, problem is its not realy promoted, has anyone seen an advert for todays ITV coverage ?

Lets face it spreading the action over 3 days is hardly a long time. Sure its not as snappy as a 90 min game of football but when compared to that other national favourite cricket where nothing happens for 5 days, you have to conceed if promoted properly it would be popular.

But in the process of trying to make it TV friendly they have taken the heart and sole out of rallying, and now they are turning their backs on it. This year there is going to be even less live coverage than there was last year.

goddammitt... i'm annoyed now! first i completely missed the start of the season, i thought it was next week...

and for anyone who knows me its unusual for me to miss ANY motorsport... grr!

then i don't hear of any coverage on itv, now i find out it was on while i was at work!!! whats the point of showing it all if its gonna be on at such a shite time!

any chance of a (terestrial) repeat?

I wouldn't worry, the coverage was dire!

I mean, why were there 2 interviews with F1 Drivers (Alan Mcnish & Jensen Button)? About F1? Rediculous. I tuned in to watch the WRC coverage, not some blumin interview about how JB had just broken the record at some race-track and what his hopes for BAR this year where

Then the coverage itself, well it wasn't as bad as I thought it could be, but it was still fairly !

What happened to Saturday afternoon's published schedule? I made sure I was in to watch it and what came on? 'The Worlds Funniest Animals' introduced by a real burk.
