Transporting a car
Discussion
I need to transport my car from the garage to a port in the next month or so for the buyer. The port is about 100 miles away, and the car is low (low loader needed). The car has not Tax, MOT or insurance, hence the need for transport.
Does anyone have any recommendations for transport firms they've used? I haven't managed to dig up anything from the search page.
These seem promising from a Google search: http://www.wemovecars.co.uk/index.html

There's a PHer who does that with very good reviews (Iguana?)
I've also used AJL Vehicle Logistics, who were great.

ETA: I hasten to add I had to glance back at the email address to see what they were called so thought I'd paste the domain in case it's of interest, I don't have any vested interest in plugging them!

I would highly recommend Melvin Spear of Flying Blue Dog Car transportation.
http://www.flyingbluedog.co.uk/
He is the Porsche Club of Great Britain 964RS register secretary and his sole business is car transportation. He's also a Pistonheads Porsche forum contributor.
He is very well trusted by many customers and also has many regular dealership clients. He is used to transporting low race cars so your car wont be a problem, is fully insured and has a covered trailer to protect your car from the elements.
Tell him Rich (RSGulp) sent you.

I use these guys for moving my cars around: http://www.racecar.co.uk/virginiawater/. They've been very good to me, and are well used to low stuff. Use their online quote system or speak to Lee or Julian.
Were are you located ? www.jrmrecovery.com please mention pistonheads.com see my advert in the services here on pistonheads
Just to close this thread, I used Andrew at AJL Logistics who offered a friendly service, very flexible, professional and efficient, car was on the ramps and secured in no time, and he was patient, while I went and dug out the V5 form I'd forgotten to bring with me at my other house about 5 miles away.
