Ho Ho. Just had our 08 plate 330i touring in for a service and it was picked up for inner edge rear tyre wear. The service person claimed (to Mrs - I wasn't there) that it was due to underinflation. This seems rubbish to me - I reckon it is due to the suspension settings. I can't complain, as it has done 20k miles on the original tyres.

I had metal showing all round one tyre with the tread coming away from the sidewall however the tread itself was virtualy complete and 3 or 4mm deep The car had done c8k when I bought it and around 13k when a puncture saved my life by alerting me to the hidden danger

BMW uk tell me that the dealer I bought the car from is going to pay to have the alignment checked at my local dealer (just awaiting confirmation), this wear was very unusual in that it was concentrated right on the shoulder and half way down the sidewall didn't realy affect the tread as such. That is not acceptable on a nearly new familly car of any type let alone one with such a high price tag and reputation, I'm just trying to find out how common this is

The rears (Pilots) on our 335D Touring have warn very evenly (but very quickly 9k miles, but heavy foot and remap what do I expect!), infact a touch more in the middle, probably due to slight over inflation by me (we often load her up to the gunnels and I cannot be bothered upping and lowering the pressure all the time). Perhaps it is a tyre choice thing, I do like the Pilots (apart from the price!).

Suplying dealer paid for a KDS alignment and it shows rear camber outside tollerance now re-set (for now?). All they can do, but I'm lucky to be alive as are my family . This is a design defect that will cost lives
