It's tragic really, I've drunk a bottle of wine and I've been watching Star Trek Deep space 9 from Series One, Episode One onwards.

9 episodes already today.

Yes, I need to get out more.

That is all

DS9 was the best Star Trek by far once the Dominion storyline started.

So you should, infact you should skip all of the episodes where Sisko has hair.

yikes

STTNG is clearly the king, DS9 is almost as bad as Voyager.

Get. Out. My evidence? Wesley Crusher.

The only TNG to watch though is the last season - if you can get past the fact that Riker always seems to head towards doors as if he's going to crash through them. There should have been more Q stories though.

Amen to that - the first season is pretty painful - I'm skipping all the time travel, ridiculous and pointless stories. I think I only ended up watching half of season 1...

What utter bks!

Kirk & Co is, was and always will be the bestest

TNG is a close second. I couldn't get into DS9 at all, dunno why but have tried, must try again.

I had all 7 seasons of DS9 on video, and it only really got going from season 4 onwards when Sisko shaved his head and Worf joined from STTNG.

Was still better than TNG due to the Dominion story line, Voyager was OK (Seven of Nine anyone..), Enterprise was poor to begin with but got better IMHO.

Deep Space 9 was the best of the Star Treks. It had far more realistic politics than TNG, was far less preachy, and benefited from a more cohesive story line.

A number of standalone Voyager episodes were very good. But there were too many crap ones for it to match DS9.

DS9 was a complete rip off of Babylon 5

Other way round - DS9 debuted a year before B5 came along

I believe B5 was pitched to them, they said "Nah", and promptly got started on DS9.

This was a regular watch most evenings for hubby and me when it was on Virgin, Saw several series then they didn't show the last one or two, Hubby started to download and we watched more but I haven't finished them yet. Hubby had seen them all before.

This is a testament to how sad I am

I watched the WHOLE of Deep Space 9 & Voyager in a 6 week school holiday about 9 years ago (I don't think Voyager had quite finished yet)

Oh and a fair bit of TNG as well but I don't like that as much!

I seem to be skipping more than I'm watching at the moment - the early episodes are a little dull - the Dominion storyline seems to make DS9....

Yes but B5 was better. Particularly because of HER:

and her quotes:

"Who am I? I am Susan Ivanova, Commander. Daughter of Andre and Sophie Ivanova. I am the right hand of vengeance and the boot that is going to kick your sorry ass all the way back to Earth, sweetheart! I am death incarnate, and the last living thing that you will ever see. God sent me."

I agree, though not primarily for HER. Long running plots have far more scope for brilliance than single episodes, and it showed- DS9's best bits were the longer running ones.

Just a shame that they had to 'wrap up' B5 in the fourth series.
