This is quite sad of me, but I would really like to know what the MPG of this new engine is in real world usage. I know everyone drives differently etc but by common consensus it seems that the 2.4JTDM 159/Brera averages low 30's, can this new 1750 petrol equal or better that?

TBi’s official combined mpg figure is 34.9, although on my high speed continental journey the trip computer recorded an average of 26.7mpg over 1,483 fast miles.

Thanks - 26.7 MPG isn't that great is it really? I guess we don't know how fast this journey was, but I was hoping that this engine wouldn't drop below 30 and would average nearer 35. I might as well keep my V6!

There's a guy on the Cloverleaf site complaining about 16-ish mpg in town.

Mind you, he's only done a few hundred miles, and he's also complaining about a 2.2-esque hesitation at low revs, so there may be something else going on with his one.

wow even the 166 doesn't drop that low around town...

When I eventually get around to changing it (if I can ever bear to part with it) I may have to go diesel and look to the 2.0 JTDM instead

I was hoping for more mpg from the 1750 engine.

Maybe the 1.9 JTDM is still the way to go biggrin

I could be tempted by a coupe Giulietta, with a 1.9 oil burner, in white with big black 19s cloud9

The engine's fantastic at what it does (quick, smooth), but you ain't gonna buy one for economy. Might as well snap up one of the last 2.4JTDm's before they're all gone if you want a quick/frugal car.

Yeah, but they're gonna wind it up to 230bhp. Same engine for the Giulietta.
