Anybody know of anywhere in the midlands area that run an airfield/driver traing day similar to Andy Walsh/Car Limits days?

I did a couple of days with Andy a few years back in my elise and thoroughly enjoyed it. This year I have bought a Noble and would like to do something similar but would prefer closer to home than North Weald.

I live about 5 miles from Prestwold, does anybody know if you can run your own car at the prestwold/wymeswold airfield?

Cheers

Only midlandsish airfield days I know about are run by Motorsportevents (MSE), and they're south ie. Oxford, Bath area.
They do run driver training days from time to time.

Driver training courses are also regularly run at the Prodrive test track just outside Kenilworth, South of B'ham.

Yes - done a load of trackdays and a driver training day a few years back just outside Stow on the Wold. Great friendly bunch and very professional.

Are you anywhere Honiley? (Just south of Birmingham Airport.)

Training done there - it is good but expensive. DPP or something.

Good gig - but you are never really let lose.

Up side is some low friction surfaces.

Thanks for the link.
I think it looks a bit too serious/organised for what I am looking for. I enjoyed the carlimits days because you get very good instruction and then in the afternoon you are let lose to practice what you have learnt and generally 'drive like you stole it'biggrin

Big Thunder used to do all sorts at Bruntingthorpe.

I did a PH Charity day with them a couple of years ago - it was good fun.

Yep - that's the Pro Drive test facility. You're 'let loose' to drive as fast as you like, however you are moved from one 'exercise' to the next at set intervals.

I enjoyed my day there. Time is split between:

Low-grip wet skid circle (trying to maintain a continuous drift)
Low-grip wet skid straight (trying to maintain steady left-right weave)
Rally-cross track (very tight & twisty tarmac)
Test track (like a racetrack albeit pretty bumpy in a light car)

Day is finished with everyone trying out a braking manoeuvre in the same car (M3 on this occasion).
