In some respects I can see the Doctor's point, just get some energy in for the moment then work out what to do longer term.

I guess it depends on how thin the child was, was his health at immediate risk or not.

no the doctor has no valid point....a doctor that doesnt know the difference between good fats and bad fats shouldnt be a doctor...plus the best time to install life long habits for good eating is when kids are young...

I'd have lost my rag and punched someone at this point...

Ignoring the fact there is clearly another side to the story here - but what sort of a f'd up place is this country if someone can use these scare tactics. Doesn't actually mothering the child account for anything these days..?
