If so where are you plannig on staying? Im determined to go next year, but looking at hotel prices in munich for that time = silly prices. Flight prices are not too bad though.

ETA, sorry mods i forgot this should be in the travel section, any chance you could leave it in here for a little while?

Should be there for some of it, not sure where staying yet. May combine a visit with one of my regular trips to Frankfurt.

As with most cities the closer the to town the more you pay. The hotels around my flat(Schwarbing)are around 130€ a night. I know of a hostel type place in the center that is very cheap if you dont mind the accomodation.

Basically any hotel on the U bahn (underground) network will be very easy to get to the fest. Even on S bahn (suburban) lines you will most likely be under an hour away at the furthest points.

What sort of places are you looking for, distance, price luxury etc.

4 lads, not that bothered aboput luxury as we plan to be "on it" all day everyday to be honest. As long as it has a nice bed and decent shower, we'll be happy. Would rather have something a bit cheaper and a train ride away than walking distance to be honest.

Drop these guys and email and ask what they have. I have been to one of thier hostels on a beer crawl and it seemed very nice for the price.

Me and the better half went over this year to it and stayed in a hostel about 5-10 mins walk away from the site and paid about €140 for 3 nights. They also had parking for an extra €10 per night. It wasn't anything fancy just a place to crash after a night on the beer this is the place http://www.hotel-flora.de/ if i was going back next year i would stay there again.

I stayed here this year -

http://www.munich-info.de/hotels/hotel-pension-cen...

Good stumbling distance from the fest and was about 45 quid a night for each person.

Its pretty basic but as you say you're not going to spend much time in there and when you are you'll be too drunk to care !!

Prost !!

Brilliant mate, just emailed them, how far from the airport was the hotel, and what was the local airport called?

Im going next year with a few friends. We are going for the first weekend (Fri to Mon) and have already booked our flights with Lufthansa (£131 return) and a hotel. I struggled to find a reasonably priced central hotel. We ended up staying near the east train station in a decent looking hotel for 112 euros a night for a double room.

Not sure about the airport situation mate as we got the ferry to france and drove down but a quick google showns the airport being about 30 mins from the hotel but you can just jump on the train as the hotel is only 5 mins walk from the station.
