E36 328 sport 1996 creaking steering wheel

Hi Guys


can anyone help my steering creaks really badly and sounds like a old ship wheel. i sounds like a spring catching on the key area of the steering wheel area.

really annoying and want to fix my self

can anyone help ?

The missus Z3 did exactly this...

Remove cowling and attack all moving parts with with liquid silicone (mind wires)

Job done.

(whether or not this will work with your car I don't know.. but this cheap easy method may pay dividends)

Could be the horn ring. Had this replaced on my old E36 and sorted the problem.

Look in the engine bay at the bulkhead where the steering column passes through and you'll see a small spring and a white nylon bush.
Spray these bits with some spray grease and see what happens.

Worst case scenario, I've got a steering wheel taken off a E36 325.
