Discussion
hi guys anybody got any feed back on hispec brakes when i spoke to them they said they had already done some ultimas, and offered me kits one with 330 discs and one with 355 discs which are 32mm curved vane each of these could be had with 4 or 6 pot calipers they also do them with a hand brake unit
thanks paul
thanks paul
I heard one person sent them back because the handbrake caliper was next to useless...... was early on in their development and they had just come out so may have been teathing probs.
They look good though as I had a good look at them at the AUTOSPORT show.... and I'm told they are rated above wilwood for caliper quality.

I did a lot of investigating to see what brakes would best suit my car. I went for Brembo in the end. I got Andy Larkin to fit them for me (what he doesn't know about brakes isn't worth knowing).
To give you an idea of how good they were. I did a whole season of 100 mile races. Didn't suffer any brake fade, could outbrake just about anything on the track, and at the end of the season, I was still runniing with my first set of pads and discs. The front pads were about 30% worn, and the rears hardly at all.
They would probably do you very nicely on your road car too

James,
Would you mind posting up some details on your brake setup ?
Also were there any special mods to get it to fit the Ultima ?
I'm afraid I don't have any part numbers, and the car is now in its' new home in California, so I can't go and look
It wasn't a major issue getting them to fit. It was just a case of getting some mounting plates made up for the calipers, and bells for the discs. as I said, I got Andy Larkin to do them for me. I'm sure he'd be able to help you out with exactly what you need.
I sold the car to Fluxen so if you ask him nicely, he might be able to give you some part numbers or pictures.

Oddly enough, he doesn't seem to list brake upgrades on his website. However, when he did mine, he had been working in the WRC department at Ford for quite some time, specialising in braking systems so he knows a thing or 2 about brakes.
He did me a very nice 8 pot setup on my Cerbera. It was only the second set of those brakes fitted to a car anywhere. The others were on Colin McRae's Ford Focus
