Well, I got the job of photographing my first cousin's wedding next year, and I'll have the novel task of trying to photograph a group with me in it!

I don't want to use the self-timer so a wireless remote is on the shopping list. Nikon don't make one, and I don't want it to look TOO cheap and Chinese. The only other proviso is that since the hotshoe will be in use, the Tx must either hang free from the 10-pin socket or be velcroed somewhere.

Googling brings up the Phottix Cleon which looks interesting, but does anyone have any other suggestions please?

Here you go....

http://www.dalephotographic.co.uk/

Select Accessories from the menu, then Nikon Accessories from the sub menu.

Product is the Seculine Twin1 R4N Nikon Wireless Shutter Release. Should do the trick.

Would give the full link address, but the URL is about 12 pages long!

Thanks - very interesting, and the Tx is a neat idea.

Is it RF or IR? I'd prefer RF if possible.

RF. They do an IR version - bit lower down the page.

Thought the same about the tx. Looked a good idea. Have one on hold - just trying to find time to go and collect it.

Sorry, I meant the Rx! It seemed slightly red hence I wondered about it being IR.

I will have to check that my flash bracket won't chop it off when I rotate it!

Easy! have you heard of a little thing called "Photoshop"?
I think its made by "a Dobby" from "Happy Rotter and the Sorcerer of Pixelites" or some such people....

Of course! Insert > Image > From file > Bloke smile

As for books, I'm still reading 'Harry Putter and the Bunkers of Troon'...

Simpo - apologies, duff advice. It is in fact IR. Picked one up today, and am now disappointed to open it up and find it's IR.

Hmm!

Arse. Thanks for the update.

What does the panel think of this?

www.dpnotes.com/phottix-cleon-n8/

'Communication between both the transmitter and receiver is via radio frequency at 315 MHz , so line of sight is not required.'

A "Cameraworld" brochure fell out of a magazine onto my lap this morning. It has a "Hahnel" model advertised in the back pages for a smidgeon under two pony. Have you looked at that one?

I use a Cleon on an old 350D, to shoot from the top of a telescopic pole. Build quality is quite good & certainly better than the ebay cheapie I used previously.

I forgot to add - A good feature, if you're using it to photo yourself, is the forward facing LEDs on the reciever: When in standby there's a flashing green LED, when half pressing to focus the green LED stays lit, after shutter release there's a red LED showing for a second or so.
