MW2 and sniping

Started a conversation on sniping on the ebay sniping thread but thought I'd take it into the computer games section to save pissing anyone off.

Can any of you show me a youtube vid with someone sniping successfully throughout a game? I can only find montages which might omit a hell of a lot of dying. From the montages it looks like you have to either be extremely good (so fair enough) or there's a bit of aimbotting going on.

I've started sniping a lot recently. been having some games where i can get ~25 kills with 3 deaths.

It's bloody hard work but my best tactic is (on the bigger maps, i.e the snowy one + wasteland) start off at the edge, and work your way around, keeping as close to the boarder as possible. silencer makes a big difference too!

And practice which is most likely what most of the 'leet' folk online have had far too much of!

Also, looking at the 'sniping' thread inthe lounge. There IS a difference between sniping and camping.

Sniping is using a tactical point to pick off enemies.

Campers sit in the corner of a cupboard with claymores and a p90 (usually ) and sit there the whole game.

I only do it on Afghan, Estate and Wasteland. Always try to make sure you know where the eneies are going to come from, have a Claymore covering the obvious entry point but always stay alert. Keep moving, else you will get sniped back or get a Semtex slapped to your face.

Other than that, be quick on the trigger and hope you can aim correctly. There's no point in standing at a window trying to get a person in your sights if they have obviously seen you, if that happens, then get down on the floor and crawl away pronto.

Some matches will be perfectly set up for sniping, in that the enemy team are all wandering about together in a group, and are easily seen. You can come up against people who use cold-blooded, ninja etc and do their own thing, in which it becomes seriously difficult to do well when you are getting ambushed from all sides every 5 minutes!

That camera that shows who killed you after you die. Which means they know where you shot them from if you're sniping. Better on HC as you don't get it and if you're well bunkered in can stay in the same place all match if you're picking people off from far enough away.

Norbury is good at this... I've had about two games like this ever on COD4, get a good spot, a bunch of relatively new people to the game and just fire away...

I can't say I have ever seen sniping on a Console or on MW in general like that of games such as Counter Strike and a few others. Sniping always seems easier on a PC than on a console

I use intervention on nearly all maps, usually comming in the top 3. Like I said on the other thread, the standard of snipers compared with say cs:s is laughable so its rather easy if you have come from that kind of game.

I like to start off on derailed as a counter-sniper, especially if I'm on the Taskforce 141 side, I'll make my way up the edge and take out the inevitable snipers in the warehouse where the Spetsnaz start. Once I've eventually been taken out I'll swap back to my regular class.

S&D HC unlocked at level 19.

I HATE snipers, can't stand them as it's bloody annoying, i'd rather have a a fire fight with someone else with an AR!
I can't snipe so that might be why, i get impatient waiting to shoot someone.
SO, what i like to do, which means i get lots of abusive messages is, put on marathon, an assault rifle, cold blooded and ninja and i run around the outside of the maps looking for the snipers.
We usually play S&D & on wasteland i can usually get about 8-10 kills from snipers alone.
A lot of the time, they will get so fked off and just leave the game, or send u abusive messages etc.

I like to snipe BUT I prefer to an assault rifle with a scope (or a sniper rifle that isnt a bolt action), I move around alot, looking for targets of oportunity. Go for long range kills as and when but have the ability to fire a burst at close range as needed.

Good things to use - silencer, thermal scope.

Ive not played MW2 multiplayer yet.

I ahve no idea either, i don't send abuse, i also have chat set so only friends can hear me and i can only hear friends etc.
I don't think it helps i tea bag a sniper after / before i kill them.
Makes me feel righteous though!

I really don't get that teabagging. I wouldn't want to dunk my scrotum in dead man's mouth. I am not that way inclined.

If I see someone teabagging me on BF2 (not often cos the angle of the head means you can't always see) I will shout, "Yeah, big boy, let me rub you while I suck your balls." Doesn't bother me but if they like a bit of virtual gay sex with corpses then no harm done I guess.
