I want to have a small easy to use website, front page with maybe half a dozen pages off that. Is there an easy way to do this, or can i copy an existing site?

I do want to put quite a few photo's on it, and also need to reduce the size as my camera seems to take them a4 size!!

I also need to "host" it somewhere, anyone know where the cheapest or easiest place is.

Call me an amateur (I am!) but I use FrontPage, which comes with MS Office. You pick a theme you like, then go from there. Poke it around a bit and it's quite intuitive; you don't need html skills.

You can use a programme like PhotoShop to change the image size and compress to a suitable file size. There are sure to be cheaper progs that do this but I don't have experience of these - have a look at the software that came with your camera. On my PC I can also right-click on the thumbnail and resize the image to, say, 800x600. Not sure if this a feature of WinXP or PicaView, which I also have.

www.123-reg.co.uk is easy and cheap, just register a domain name and buy some space.
Then you'll need some FTP software to upload the files. FrontPage can do this, I believe, but I use CuteFTP.
Hope that helps!

Actually, if you've got Photoshop, there's actually a utility (File -> Automate -> Web Photo Gallery) that will kill 2 birds with one stone, and hence rescale your photos suitable for web use and also build a quick gallery page.

You could always *BLOG* !

Basically you can have a few pages and leave a news page where your blogs go.

Check out www.blogger.com for more details and to view other people's blogs.

you just login your username and password ( like you do if you use Hotmail ) and then whatever you type gets put onto your website. Once setup ,simple to use and update !

There is a free version and you can customise the look and delete old posts .

Enjoy !
