I hate to start a Christmas thread but i'm after some suggestions for a Christmas present for my wife.

Due to our little one arriving back in October we've decided that we're not going to go mad this year and just get each other a little token gift to open on the day.

So with a £10 budget any suggestions? I want to try and avoid the usual CD/DVD combo and get her something a bit different.

Cheers,
Phill

The Bank of England does vouchers which you can spend in most shops.

A photo of the pair of you in a frame goes down well for some reason with women.

Ten quid means fifty in this situation.

Body Shop is your first port of call, just buy lots of little things.

We don't have much need for anything else and we're having to make do on my salary at the moment so we're not exactly rolling in it.

We both agreed that as we are going to America for a holiday next October that we'd rather save some money and not buy stuff that will get used for a month then put in a cupboard never to be used again hence the £10 budget

I respect her if she's being serious, too many people go into debt for such a stupid reason.

If your budget is £10 so be it.

If I had a £10 choice I would choose a book token or a couple of bottles of wine or an iTunes token.

Christmas is for children, us adults should be happy with a small gift if that is all the family budget allows.

That's the plan.

We don't want to go mad as we've had a lot of expense lately. I used to love Christmas but have gone of it in recent years due to the adverts etc starting in Oct! Looking forward to it getting exciting again now the little one has arrived.

Sounds really corny, but can you not make her something? My best mates hubby makes her something every year....He enjoys wood turning in his spare time.

And then use the £10 to buy a bottle of plonk biggrin

She just gave birth to your baby! whilst I appreciate you two not wanting to spend a fortune she deserves a medal! If you didn't at the time of the birth then I would suggest a token of your love and affection that costs maybe a little (OK a lot) over £10 will give her a keepsake to treasure forever.

Tiffany have some small pieces in silver that aren't that costly but are beautiful and still under £100.

Be King for a day biggrin

I can understand that but we have a budget and we're going to stick it. Thought it might be interesting to see what can be purchased for a tenner!

Maybe get a lovely pic of the three of you, print it up and frame it. Boots do some lovely frames for about a fiver or so. Not only will that show you have put some thought into her present you have given her something she can enjoy forever and have had to put some effort in! you will be that King! biggrin

Good plan. We're actually having some proper photos taken on Saturday so that might work really well.

Wait, what?

People buy their spouse Christmas presents????

I thought it was only for those distant relatives you see once a year.

For a tenner you're going to have to go with a gift that has meaning, or lots of little gifts that have a meaning and relevance to place's you've been, thing's you've done together.

I know it's soppy and romantic drivel, but you could collect and put together items in a nice (£10) box that make up 'the story so far' or as you've just had a baby, use some plaster of paris to take a baby footprint, and put that in, with the first baby grow and such like.
