Hello All!

I'm trying to get my winter ride sorted and i want to replace the head on It, its a '1982 1600 GTI' and i need to know if a '1983 1800 (DX) GTI' head will fit st8 on? Bottom ends also been bored (To about 1700) if that makes a difference for compression.

Thanks in advance

Didn't they do something different to the water jacket / oil flow ways between these years?? Don't know for sure but just remember reading this somewhere.

Sorry for the slang, st8 is short for straight . I think i'll be best off just rebuilding the current head then. Reason for swap was because i had one lying about.

Will the 1800 cam fit then?

Reason i'm doing this is because existing 1600 heads had some work done by prior owner (Wont know exactly whats done till open, but def on a cam) Revs are nutty and flys once on the move, but the lumpy idle and fact my biting points allot shorter doing my nut in, especially as i do allot of town driving.

Thanks for the responses thus far!!

The worst part of it is that it doesn't even make bloody sense.
