How many people honestly get effected by this? I just wonder if there was a court case over a TV programme that caused a seizure and therefore its now always mentioned.

I believe the strobing and flash photgraphy can cause an epileptic fit, not sure of the mechanism of action. On a tangent some of the trees on tree lined roads in France had to be cut down as drivers would have fits from the constant flash of light from between the trees.

There was once a story about a chap who used to fall off his bicycle due to his effect.

But I still cannot find what TV programme caused them to place a warning.

Most of the main broadcasters 'QC' programmes before allowing them to be aired, running it through a bit of kit called a 'Flash Gordon'. This counts the number of flashes in a given time period rejects those with too many.

its very speed dependant.
from my extensive knowledge of the subject (i'v seen the andromada strain) its about 3 flashes rep second that can cause fitting.

Er, guys, it doesn't mean there are flashing lights, it means that the cameraman/reporter/producer/director are up their arses just a teensy bit.
