Total dolt when it comes to spannering, but I am just about to "attempt" to change the battery on my Cerb, all tips will be greatly appreciated.
I have a booster pack, should I connect this to the terminals to stop all alarm nonsense happening?
Is it easy enough to take off and refit the airbox? What tools will I require?
Anyone want to come and do it for me Lol?

Its easy, 5mm allen key for airboxes, 4mm allen for top engine cover. Maybe a 17mm socket on extention for battery securing bolt, 13mm spanner for terminal clamps.
Make sure the alarm is off when you disconnect and as soon as you reconnect the new one give the key fob a good press just to re-tune it/stop alarm going off. Keep the fob in your pocket else you'll piss the whole street off with a screaming alarm as you run around looking for it.

Just done the same to give my flat battery a good charge...
Only tip is to try not to get annoyed or you will end up dropping one of the bolts into the engine bay
Oh, and don't leave anything in the car that you need with the doors and windows shut when you remove the battery.
10 minute job that takes 45 minutes

Wow, You were not kidding about lack of spanner skills ..
Changing the battery has now resulted in no clutch
Did you go through the gearbox from underneath to the change the battery
You will be in our prayers tonight ....
Are you saying I wasn't meant to go through the gearbox to access the batteryChanging the battery has now resulted in no clutch

Im due to change the rear droplinks on mine but haven't managed to find the time yet... or plucked up the courage..good luck with the clutch..

So is it a matter of cutting away the silicone to gain access to the reservoir, topping up with fluid, opening the bleed nipple, depressing clutch pedal, closing bleed nipple, foot off clutch pedal and repeat until resistance is back in pedal?
Yes - a lot easier for someone to press the pedal while you do the 'Bleeding'.And just in case yo dont know how to do it

1.Cut away Silicone
2.Undo 2 self tappers and remove cover
3.Top up fluid
4.Loosen off nipple
5.Plastic Tube over the nipple into a jar of clean fluid.
6.Someone presses the clutch in whilst you loosen the bleed nipple - keep the pedal down while you tighten it.
7.Check fluid and top up if neccassary.
8.Keep repeating 6 and 7 until no air in the tube, and/or the fluid is nice and clean.
PS - A lot easier, and a single man job, if you spend £20 on an Eazi bleed system from Halfords.

i just topped up fluid, deppressed the clutch a few times and got clutch resistance back and able to change gear
Thereby compressing whatever air was in the system into the fluid. That air will gradualy come back out of the the fluid and give you a spongy pedal again when it sits for a while. You really need to bleed it properly, flushing enough fluid through that it is fresh fluid in the system.Gassing Station | Cerbera | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
