They've already done it, its a little rectangular box with buttons on, whenever something comes on that you don’t like, just press a button on the little box and the nasty man will go away

One of the many reasons I don’t tend to watch any terrestrial TV, or come to think about it, anything other than the discovery channel and the odd movie

These "sorts" are still there, just not on the programs you appear to be watching I dunno, Stephen Fry, David Mitchell, Ian Hislop all have a certain "charm" and have been on the box tonight. You've clearly been watching something else

You could watch Strictly tomorrow if you want, I doubt Brucey will be anything but his good mannered, charming tasteful self......

Both parents are Scottish though as I remember (did some "Who do you think you are" family history prog) but went to the US, accent etc. is all for career. Fair play, he's putting himself out there and making something out of his life etc.

Anyway, OP, much as I do agree there's a lot of crap on TV including some of those you mention but I gave up a long time ago being annoyed by crap on TV (esp on saturday nights I might add) and being more selective about what I watch. Life's too short etc.....
