There are certain great/brilliant films about that you only need/want to see once or twice
e.g. The Green Mile, Shawhank Redemption, Downfall and many others.
There are also many great films (and some not so great) that I could watch many times over
e.g. Bond/Bourne movies, Ferris Beullers Day Off, Batman (Jack Nicholson one), Ali-G the movie (ok, not the "best" film and quite silly but a great I'm pissed, let's watch something mindless type film, Austin Powers as well in this category)

The Godfather Trilogy...granted Pt1 is by far the best.
Cuckoo's Nest is hardly ever mentioned but is truly a great film.
Black Hawk Down is awesome, simply because 2 hours or so just disappears so quickly.
The Lighthorsemen....The Australian Cavalry Charge upon Beersheba is fecking spectacular...epic
But one that can be enjoyed time and again has to be Zuluuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu!

The Usual Suspects
Robocop (ever since I was a child and saw a heavily edited version)
Commando - 80's cheese
Predator - See above
T2 Judgement Day
Although over-hyped, I did like the Dark Knight, although it is a bit too long. Preferred Batman Begins.
I enjoy a few too many bad movies too, "Jingle all the way" for example. Ah-Nuld just cracks me up with "Eeets Tur-boh time!"

I think the films that appear in peoples' lists are often films they saw in their formative years. So, you can almost guess someone's age from the list of films they produce.
On the internet, it is not likely that you will see many films from before (say) 1970, unless it has achieved some sort of iconic status - such as
2001, Bullitt, Zulu etc.
I have far too many favourite films spanning many decades.
So, to redress the balance in favour of older films, I'll include some -
White Heat
The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance
Some Like it Hot
Singin' in the Rain
The Sound of Music
A Touch of Evil
Night of the Hunter
It's a Wonderful Life
Flight of the Phoenix (the original)
North by Northwest
Rear Window
Seven Brides for Seven Brothers
