25,000 mile 2003 540i sport - should I buy?

Pretty much as the ad says, I've been offered a car by a family friend that sounds pretty tempting
(even though I don't really need a fourth BMW!)

2003 540i sport auto saloon
Silver / Black leather
Sat nav, sunroof etc.
25,000 miles!

Pretty much an ideal E39 then. I've never seen the car, but have been told that it is as good as you would expect, but will could do with new brakes soon.

His local dealer has offered him £6,550 against a new car.

Do you think I should go for it?

I had a 540sport on a 52 plate with an almost identical spec, it was a fab car, looked great and drove really well.

Unfortunately, since speaking to him a week or so ago he's done a bit of research and decided to tidy up the minor cosmetics that need doing and get some more cash for it by selling it himself.

I shouldn't have dragged my heals on making a decision for so long!
