Hi guys

I know this will sound like sacrilege to you guys but you are the guys in the know. I bought a project 1985 390SE about a year ago maybe longer but with my other toy (Bowler Tomcat) and my work changing I don’t get time to work on the TVR.

I am advertising it as a project but at the moment no joy (Few Nigerians seem interested). I need to get rid so I can buy something that is already roadworthy. I have it advertised for £1800 if I ask much less I may as well keep the bits I want.

I won’t even have time to strip it to sell but I would have time to remove the engine and maybe gearbox and keep the engine as a spare for the Tomcat.

Finally the question I want to ask is the engine the blue printed one with large valves and Cosworth pistons? I know it doesn’t make the 270bhp that TVR recon it does, but what will it push out?

Is the rest of the car worth anything to anyone or just scrap?

Ok Mick, will have a think and get in touch when I can see it in daylight.
Possibly what I'm looking for...with engine/box.

It should have an NCK engine. Apparently they varied between 220 and (rarely) 250/260bhp. So much is done to these cars over the years though. None is 'standard'.

Has it been raced or something....what with the battery cut-off switch in the cockpit ?

No probs Graham. the kill switch I have no idea but it also has a roll bar so could have been tracked/raced.

Hmm good question.
1. The brake master cylinder is empty so brake overhaul
2. Rear nearside uj was knackered I have half fitted a new drive shaft needs finishing.
3. Engine runs fine can send a recording of it.exhaust is patched up
4. One headlight does not work
5. Tyres
As far as I am aware that is it.

Seems a shame to break, but if you do would be interested in rear suspension if its A-Frame.

Yes that is A-Frame.
Also what's your plans with the body. as tempted to graft the rear onto the FHC to make it a FHC-SE

I think it was 350I S2 onwards.

It would be a shame to break it as there is little wrong with it. esp as there was not many 390SE made.

If you can wait till after Xmas I may buy it and get it back to life.

Mick, what brake setup have you got up front?

I need a spare set of alloy bell/rotor combo if you have them (and they're in decent nick)

Mind you if i were you i'd get it back on the road, it seems a waste to strip it and it doesn't seem like it would take much to get back on the road.

Yes indeed .

VERY rare car...only around 100 Wedge 390SEs built.

Gonna cost a lot of money for that interior trimming ( + hood ?) and paintwork, etc, etc though, and that's BEFORE you even consider chassis refurb, brakes, suspenders, engine, drivetrain....

A 'Brap_Brap' type project I would reckon.

Need a big warm garage, lots of time and no demanding women about, but great if it can be saved. smile

You have never seen the car but you seem to know what is required! It depends what you want with the car. To get it roadworthy I believe all the parts that are there are seviceable. the chassis does not need antything doing to it. If you want a concourse car then your statement stands.
