great movie, great music - wore out the vhs tape when I was a kid.

The CGI hasn't aged very well but has an almost retro charm now, and ground breaking at its time (released the year after return of the jedi)

I think this sort of thing shows just how advanced in terms of special effects Star Wars etc. was.

However, it's a cracking film.....................

It's been a long while (I saw this one when it came out) but wasn't it the first movie with effects generated entirely by computer? Star Wars may have looked better but I guess they were still using "traditional" methods.

The original original Star Wars trilogy used a lot of models and stuff, they've been re-edited with CGI a couple of times now which is why they look so much better (that singing frog thing in Return of the Jedi, for example)

I think Tron was before Last Starfighter? I remember reading magazine articles at the time and being amazed at how many thousand polygons the hangar scene had, and how it took forever just to render one frame. Ah good old days biggrin

Most notable for Sybil Danning and her most impressive of cleavages that seemed to fly that ship of hers on its own.

Last Starfighter was fantastic.
