OK. I've had my Chimaera for 6 years now and every spring for the past 3 years I have decided to trade up. Well this year I AM going to do so - either to a Tamora or a T350 (2003 spec with non-go-bang-engine).
Soo, I've just had my Chimaera serviced and the MOT is due in March. I can get the MOT done anytime so no big deal - the car would go up for sale with 12 months MOT.
I want to sell privately because I'd rather the car (and all it's associated enhancements) went directly to a new owner and didn't get lost/trashed/sit on a forecourt for months in the dealer network (not to mention the trade in price).
My query is: The only thing the car needs is a nose job. It's not too bad (I've seen plenty worse), but if I were buying I'd want a shiney one (ooer). So, do I get it done before trying to sell? Or do I put it up for sale with a nose job included in the price? I prefer the latter - this way the new owner gets a spotless front end. This also means if I do end up p/exing I haven't lost that cash. Opinions?
I am thinking of putting it up for sale in a month or so unless anyone's looking for one like mine right now - let me know (pics in profile and more on website).

I know exactly how you feel. As a seller you think it's an advantage for the buyer to get a pristine front-end job just before taking over. As a buyer however, he won't see the car in this condition so it won't have the "WOW" factor. There will also be fewer turn up to view.
I would suggest advertising as is for now, but with a firm commitment to get the nose job done, and ajdust price acordingly.

I'd leave it as is for the moment as well 
But pop round a decent bodyshop and get a quote for getting it done, then when Mr Punter turns up to have a look at your car if the front end condition comes up on the buyers 'bartering aggenda' then you can tell them exactly how much it'll cost and if they want it doing they can have the car for £x amount

Nope, looks ace. Chips aren't too bad. More like me being a fussy sod. Check out pics on my profile/website. Think I'll leave it, get a quote and get it done if necessary.
I disagree, ALL the good dealers will do a nose job on a stone chipped car, buyers will be comparing to dealer specced cars.
For buying most cars a bit of paint is automatically suspicious, most TVR buyers if they have done any reasearch will know stone chips are a bit of an occupational hazard.
IF the respray is not too great a proportion of the cars value(have seen some good work for much less than a grand (even less if you know someone, and help with the preparation), I say get it done. PLUS spend a at least a day, giving the interior a really good clean. will get you more money.
For the really suspicious buyer, show a before photo, and a copy of the respray bill/quote. Which will STATE cost to prepare/respray nose to get rid of stonechips.
Anyone still suspicious is probably too stupid to own a tvr imho of course.

Defecting ... well I've had mine 6 years, more than most people. Need something with aircon for those long European trips - the girlfriend wants to drive too so I need something she can reach the pedals in more easily (no extensions - I'm too tall for them and she'ss too short.
