My car was previously fitted with 18" spiders and I'm unsure as to whether the spacers are still fitted to prevent me getting full lock. Is there an easy way of checking whether the lock is still restricted?

thanks,

my understanding is that stops are fitted to the steering rack to prevent over travel and therefore wheel rubbing bodywork etc....if this is correct then you may see these fitted, and IIRC they will look like a small clamp 'thingy' around the 'arms' on the rack itself.....

i wait to be told that im wrong....but at least this will 'bump' the post!!

Yep, if you turn the car on full lock without the spacers the wheels hit the bodywork and you get a rubber hits plastic scraping noise.

Was on my car before the spacers.

I'll see if I can see any 'clamp' type things on the rack then! Obviously the wheels don't rub at the moment because the 18's were removed. The turning circle is pretty pathetic at the moment and I'm just hoping that the restriction is still in place so I can fit bigger wheels without making it worse!

I've got 18 inch spyders on mine and have found that if you dip the clutch and yank on the handbrake as you enter the turn it gets round most things. I think in some of the more fancy machines its called rear wheel steer...
