had good results with t-cut on glass in the past. taken scratches out of my head unit glass screen with it and bought some tinted windows from a scrap yard and the t-cut brought it up lovely. a chap that was walking past who worked in car sales actually asked me what i had used on the glass as it was so clean
Steve, the polycarbonate covers to light units can be polished using a 'standard' bodyshop 'mop', ie rotary machine polisher, foam or wool polishing pad and a medium cut compound like Menzerna 3.02 IP. You won't need anything as aggressive as a glass polish and very heavy cut compounds may actually scratch it more and make it worse. Any detailer in your area (and there are a few in Scotland) should be able to sort in a few minutes - maybe give them a spin in the car when it's back.
