Folks

Am looking at getting an S4 avant. Will be used as second car, carting stuff / kids and hooning down to south of france a couple of times a year.

What are the ***key*** differences in the upgraded models (other than looks & price).

Many thanks

Well, B7 and B8 is obviously the engine and the new style (better quality)

Does this help at all? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Audi_S4

B6-B7 was a thorough facelift.

B8 has nothing in common at all with the old cars.

That's quite a price range you're spanning there too!

thanks - yes I realise the price difference and pondering if the additional £££ is worth it....

Fairy snuff smile

If you're spending low/mid teens then a B6 S4 is a lot of car for the money and a very good, reliable car..

B7 has numerous small but worthwhile upgrades for a bit more cash.

B8 has been so far very, very well received particularly in dynamic terms. I think 4/5 people on here have taken delivery of theirs recently so are probably better placed to comment on specifics.

B6 B7 v8 4.2 same engine and power in effect. Fuel economy fairly average for a v8. B7 has a new better diff with a 40-60 split in favour of the rear wheels making it slightly better dynamically.

Also b6 had a bit of an issue with the chain nothing major but on startup has a bit of a rattle but just for a few seconds on startup any longer walk away.

B8 is all new with in theory better economy but missing v8 rumble.

I think the V8 (B6 & B7) has that litle somthing extra.

But the V6 supercharged (B8) isnt lacking in performance, just isnt the same.

But B8 will have a nice long "proper manufacturers" waranty.
