2500M weepy and clunky diff

Hi guys.
The diff on my 2500M clunked on gearchange when I first drove it on purchase (although there was no whine). The previous owner says he replaced the UJs on the half shafts. The car has been sitting in my garage ever since for the past few years and I'm only now getting around to getting it back on the road.
I had to replace the front oilseal on the diff and the replacement one immediately started to weep (just as I did!!). When I first replaced the seal, I noticed that the splined front output shaft had quite a bit of side to side play in it.
My questions are:
Is the side play normal?
I haven't checked the condition of the diff mountings but recently heard that worn/soft ones on the TR6 can cause clunking, as can cracks in the mounting housing. Is this the same on the 2500M?
Any experience/tips on replacing the replacement front oil seal?
I assume that its the standard TR6 diff (3.23:1) that's fitted.

The diff is 3.45, these issue is more likely that the diff carrier frame is breaking/broken allowing twist of the diff by the prop, also (if will need an explaination of how upgrade it the PM direct) if you have replaced a leather diff seal with a modern rubber lip seal then it will leak as the leather seal creates a very large wear point and it is advisable to change like for like ...make sure that the breather is no blocked..and the rear diff mounts are modified TR6 parts (I sell them already modified at 13.90)>

Email me direct re the bushes..the pinion flange requires that you take the flange off and replace it in such a way that you leave it pre-loaded (marked/removed/replaced back at the marked place)..I have a man that builds these for the Triumph fraternity and I do not play with them as he comes in and sets these for me when I require the job doing, swopping in a machined and sleeved version of the flange (they can be have a very thin bearing face sleeve put on to recover the seal face).
