Last time I needed some struts this company were very efficient, and they list struts for various Wedge models. link below

thanks mikesp, their website do list my model (as well as Tasmins in general) but they quote Jan 1986 onwards for all of them. are the pre-86 ones different?

Don't know, only just got into Wedges myself. But I had a Chevy Dayvan and I sent them my tailgate struts as they said they might be able to repair them cos they didn't have a listing for them. Turned out they were beyond repair and they sent some equivalents which fitted perfectly. Brilliant service and only a 4 day turnaround. So if the Wedges do vary they will probably have something to fit. Give them a call

+1 Really helpful and I found that the tired struts for the boot hold the bonnet up OK !

StrutsDirect.co.uk
You'll need 4 x SD02-200 adjustable pressure struts with Plastic Ball fittings on both ends at approx £100 Inc VAT for four.
Using a small allen key, you bleed these down from full pressure down to approx 15KG each (measured with bathroom scales whistle) for bonnet and 12 KG for boot (with spoiler).
Best not to use too much pressure or you'll start to crack the fibreglass around the ball-joint.

Andy

SGS will test your old onss, but the chances are if they have lost there pressure the end seals will be goosed.

Can be repaired but for the cash i would buy the new ones.

Same again when i used them they new there stuff and it was not just here is the price and card details please, they chatted about the wedge for a while to.

Top guys down there.

Just to revive this, last week I purchased 3x new struts for the wedge. This morning they arrived, were bolted on in record time and are prefect. my boot now no longer slams down in the slightest breeze, and my bonnet has also lost the progressive sag smile

On Fleabay type in 'range rover tailgate struts'. A pair are about £10 and should fit bonnet or boot. I fitted a pair to a Wedge I used to have and they worked fine. They are a little stiffer but still do the job.

Just done this job, bonnet and boot....

Same part numbers for both

Top marks to SGS for swift, efficient, and very helpful service, thanks to Dave and Thomas specifically.

There was a query about whether the threads were 6mm or 8mm, as apparently TVR chopped and changed redface

My 1989 400SE are 8mm

A thought has just occurred to me though, as a green and conscientious motorist (as I stand and watch my non-cat four litre V8 idle for no apparent reason) I look at the old struts and wonder if they can be reconditioned rather than throw them in the trash.

If any company or individual want them FOC let me know?

Incidentally the boot ones (even though they would hold my spoilered boot up) didn't feel too bad, yet the bonnet ones are totally shot, offering no resistance whatsoever.
