Just wondering if anyone has experience of both of the above software. I tend to use Nikon Capture for all of my editing and workflow now the Capture 2 is more advanced than the original, I rarely use Photoshop.
Capture can be a bit slow when processing 600 images after a days shoot so was wondering how quick Lightroom is and how good it is for processing RAW files.
Does Lightroom have a simple tool for levelling horizons as in Capture one just draws a line using cursor along horizon and Capture just sorts it

Hiya

In case you didn't know Lightroom 3 Beta is available FOC and fully functioning on the adobe website. It will cease to work 30th April 2010.

It rather depends. If you have a lot of similar images (i.e. that require more-or-less the same processing), then you can work on one and quickly copy the settings to as many others as you want.

.
Yes just for clarity, in Capture I take 1 image do the adjustments save the changes and then in Batch flow apply those settings to the others I wish adjusting.
The slowness is around the time Capture actually clunks its way through the several hundred images.

I tried and didn't like NX and have been using LR II for a couple of years. No contest - LR is years ahead in organising, editing, printing, slide show fuctionality and of course the interface. LR III is changed very little - that says a lot! NX feels shareware in comparison.

ETA LR can rattle pretty quickly through 100 or so D300s RAW (NEF) files with no problem. The changes can be as simple as cut and paste a (set of) changes from one file to a selected range; simples...

I use LR to auto import from either a CF/SD card or from Capture II using a tethered D300s (or recently a wireless EyeFi SD card). For the card reader I use a CF Firewire card reader that is lightning fast. LR just gobbles them up.

Ian appreciate your views...had a quick play with the Lightroom Beta last night and ended up going back to NX, my initial view of LR was that it seemed nore time consuming that NX on indivisual images. Of course I know my way around NX very well, so when I have a little more time will have a serious play with LR
