Few vids from my dead cheap trackday on saturday...thanks to the foxhunt putting lunch from 11-12....cos my £70 half day was even more of a bargain...;)

Well just got round to sorting out a few videos of our last moment trackday event at Oulton Park on Saturday. As the car still wasn’t completely sorted up to Friday night I decided a good thrashing would blow the cobwebs away and highlight any problems immediately….turned out the one job I was going to do when I got to the track was cable tie the throttle position sensor block in as the clip snapped off years ago…guess who forgot!!! Then to cap it off the cable tie snapped next time out and it happened again.
Only other problem was me filling the water reservoir to max, should have left a bit more space for expansion but quick cap open when its nice and hot and under pressure soon drops the level…..
I was running some new cut intermediate Pirelli H37’s which I’ve run before with great success…but this time the guy I got them off had increased the gaps between the tread blocks by using a tread cutter and I thought this would help if the track was wet.
Probably would have but the track had a nice dry line all around it and whilst I did my usual couple of warming up laps found out that I didn’t need to as the gripped like nobodies business from the off…..but then overheated after a few laps which meant it became quite entertaining.
Also made the mistake of leaving the abs system live, usually disconnect rear wheel sensor under the seat…took a good few laps before the penny dropped, a road safety bit of kit which is a liability on the track!!!

Nearside front tyre delaminated as per RAF Marham, same 2” section 1” from outside edge…must be a early warning system before they blow out…lol but all other tyres live to spread rubber on the track another day….looking at Bedford Autodrome late January.
These tyres were 650mm diameter and raised the gearing but kept running out of revs in 2nd a lot faster with the extra power and now need to increase the rev limit by another 500 revs to get it a bit more on song when going into 3rd.

Wyn and Sarah had a ball in their Golf Dti, and showed even a oil burner can be a formidable track tool. Neil in his Honda S2000 has now been bitten by the trackday bug and is thinking of a more track orientated car.

There was a weird but wonderful beetle bug type racer which was quick and surprisingly a very rapid Evo with a driver who knew how to use it.
Not a lot of video footage as forgot to swap disc round so only 30 mins or so and it ends just as the pace hotted up..typical.
So the car is now sorted and track tested I can start breaking my £188 ebay purchase which has given me over 5000 miles of luxurious car travel and build up a new bottom end to fit the forged Wossner pistons into…

Hi Mark,

Some nice footage there.

I have checked my photo's again and no there are none of your faithful steed.

I do however have the other people you mentioned in your post (i think)

Thanks for those, yes you got the right ones!
I planned to get shots in the paddock but always seem to get distracted and end up with none at all.
