factory alarm on 1997 LHD 993

I'm looking at purchasing a 1997 LHD 993 imported from the continent that has the factory fitted alarm system with the single button remote with the integral switchblade key. Is this the same alarm that was sold on the UK cars as a Thatcham approved system? Most potential insurers seem to insist on a Thatcham Cat 1 system. Thanks,
