Guys
I have been offered a G50 02 gearbox for £1,300 (but I may be able to barter it down)..... I don't really need but it occured to me that someone on here might.

Is this a reasonable price for this box (from a car described as 70k & imaculate!)?

G50 02 has v. short gear ratios though doesn't it Andy? Made for the Swiss market apparently.

Stig,

I thought that you had one of these in your Ultima?

I did at first Brian, but I'd misread the stamping. It's actually a G50/00 02 which means it has LSD fitted.

Was well lucky to find one!

Same gearbox as mine (with LSD). It maxed out at 160-165mph at 6,200rpm. The rev limiter can be raised to get a bit more but little point.

I've used you data on the ratios and origin as I have no idea.
just over 24mph in 5th rings a bell.

Brian
Yes I think it comes with the arm and slave..... It also comes with the drive porsche shafts, clutch, pedals etc.....

I've seen people on here claim it was the perfect box with it's low ratio's!
I also read that the 02 denotes that it has an LSD, but that would need to be checked.

As you may know I personnely have some of the highest ratios around in my box which suits my engine better and already have two other porsche box's hence I don't need another.

Just to recap.

A code number would be G50021x for a G50 box normally fitted in a Swiss Porsche model with no LSD and G50022x for the same fitted with an LSD where x is the code letter for the year. J=1988 K=1989.

Will have a 40% lsd if it is fitted at the factory.

Andy, seems likely your gearbox is 1988 or 1989 given the info I have from Porsche

Yup, whereas IIRC, mine is a G5000 2 K (G50/00, 2 (ZF ltd. slip Diff, K - 1989)

I know this is a figure of speech but others seem confused.... I don't have this gearbox, but was offered it.

Have passed the number on to a potential buyer who I expect will get the exact model & details from the seller.
